Obituary

Richard G. Egan, 94, of Menlo Park Terrace, passed away at his home on Tuesday, February 16, 2016.  Born and raised in New York City, he resided there until his move to Menlo Park Terrace in 1954.  Prior to his retirement, Richard was employed as Chief Engineer for the Department of General Services for the City of New York.  He served during WWII in the U.S. Army and Merchant Marines.  He was a Master Chief Petty Officer in the Naval Reserves.  Richard was a member of the American Legion Post #1222 in NYC.   He was a communicant of Our Lady of Peace RC Church, a self-taught musician -- singing and playing the organ, and he was a physical fitness enthusiast.  Richard loved his family.

He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Rose Marie Egan; his daughter-in-law, Lois and his granddaughter, Melissa Anne.  The youngest of eight children, he was also predeceased by all of his siblings.

Richard is survived by his son, Kenneth Egan, and his wife, Nancy of Menlo Park Terrace; his son Richard Egan of Catskill, NY; his daughters, Rosemary Olcott and Lorraine Rever, both of Menlo Park Terrace; his grandchildren: Patrick, Danielle, Roxanne and Kevin; and his five great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 18, 2016, at the Flynn and Son Funeral Home, 23 Ford Avenue, Fords, NJ 08863, from 6-9 pm.  Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 19, at 10 am at the funeral home followed by a 10:30 Funeral Liturgy at Our Lady of Peace RC Church.  Entombment will be in St. James Mausoleum, Woodbridge.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Our Lady of Peace Knights of Columbus in Woodbridge.
