Renee Del Popolo Kendzia, age 82 of Toms River, died on Thursday at Community Hospital in Toms River. She was born in and was a resident of Perth Amboy until moving to Toms River 15 years ago.
Renee was a Recording Clerk for the Woodbridge Police Department for 16 years before retiring. She was a graduate of Perth Amboy High School, Class of 1945, a former communicant of Our Lady of Peace Church in Fords and was also a member of the choir. She volunteered at the Kimball Medical Center for 10 years and was a member of the Italian American Club of Berkley Township for 10 years.
She was predeceased by her first husband, John Del Popolo who died in 1969, her sister, Delores Abramik and her brothers, Matthew Facendo and Joseph Facendo.
Surviving are her husband, Thomas A. Kendzia of Toms River, her son and daughter-in-law, John and Celeste Del Popolo of Columbus, NJ, her daughters and son-in-law, Gloria Temple of Macungie, PA and Joanne and Roy Bentzen of Vernon, NJ and her stepson, Thomas Kendzia Jr. and his wife, Melinda of Doswell, VA. Also surviving are her ten grandchildren, her two great-grandchildren, her brother, Michael Facendo of South Amboy, NJ, and her sisters, Antoinette Facendo of Perth Amboy, Yolanda Tkacs of Fords, Funzy Leonard of South Amboy and Sister Rosemarie Facendo of Morristown.
