Renee Klein, 88, formerly of Perth Amboy, passed peacefully on Tuesday, January 3, 2017 at Sunrise of Westfield.

Born in Paterson, raised in Brooklyn, NY, she had resided in Perth Amboy for more than 35 years.

She was a former employee of Saks Fifth Avenue in Short Hills and had been very active with Temple Beth Mordecai in Perth Amboy for many years, and also the Jewish Federation of Greater Middlesex County, and she was a lifetime member of Hadassah.

She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Morton Klein, MD, who died in 1978, her daughter, Joyce and her sister Janice Spear, both of whom died in 1977.

Renee leaves behind her daughters, Laurie Zinberg and her husband Scott, and Karen Klein and her partner, Gary Frieder, and son, Richard Klein and his wife Diane. She also leaves her brother Louis Spear and four grandchildren, Marissa, Greg, and his wife Emily, Max and Alex.

Funeral services were held on Wednesday, January 4, 2017 at the Flynn and Son Funeral Home in Perth Amboy. Interment was in Beth Mordecai Cemetery, also in Perth Amboy.

Shiva will be observed on Wednesday and Thursday afternoon and evening and Friday afternoon, until 4 pm at the Zinberg residence and on Saturday evening and Sunday starting at 2pm at the Klein residence in New York City.
