Regino Palaganas, Sr., 83, went to his reward in heaven on Wednesday, October 23, 2024.
Regino was born and raised in Manaoag in the Philippines. His parents Feliciano and Demetria Soriano Palaganas were proud of him from in early age. He graduated as Valedictorian of his elementary school class, and Salutatorian of his high school class. From and early age he took great pleasure in building wooden kites by hand and flying them during summer afternoons. After high school Regino went on to receive a BS/BA degree from the University of the East. He went to work for Pantranco Bus in the Philippines for 20 years; first as a bus conductor, then as a bus inspector for the rest of his career with them. Regino achieved second place in the National Exam for Meat Inspectors and was employed by his local Philippine government as the town's meat inspector until his retirement in 2006.
With a deep love for his family, Regino cherished the time he spent with them. He loved to cook, and sing Karaoke with his family, especially old songs from his homeland. He also spent time playing his ukulele and harmonica.
Regino is survived by his beloved wife of 55 years Aurelia. He is also survived by his daughter Aurene, her husband Roly, grandchildren Nikki and Sandy, Mark, Christian, Angel, Kate, and only great granddaughter Kahlea with whom he lived in Fords. His children who live in the Philippines include Cherry and Arnold with their children Jan, David and Ally, AC, and Arche, and Regino, Jr, and Regina "Jhing" and their children Odette, RJ, Carlo, and Reeze.
Friends may call on Monday, October 28, and Tuesday, Oct 29, 2024 from 4:00pm - 8:00pm at the Flynn and Son/Mitruska Funeral Home, 23 Ford Ave., Fords, NJ 08863. Funeral Services will take place on Wednesday, October 30, 2024 at 11:00am from the Wesley United Methodist Church, 5053 Woodbridge Ave., Edison. Entombment will follow in Clover Leaf Memorial Park, Woodbridge.
