Raymond J. Sawicz, Sr., 96, of South Amboy, passed away on January 20,2025, at J.F.K. Medical Center, Edison.  Ray was born in Sayreville to Joseph and Mary Sawicz and lived in Fords and Perth Amboy before settling in South Amboy 58 years ago.

He served his country faithfully in the Army during World War II and Korea.  Ray was employed by American Smelting and Refining before working for Roofers Local 28, Perth Amboy for 40 years.  He was a member of NAPE (National Association of Power Engineers). Ray was a communicant of St. John the Baptist Orthodox Church, Perth Amboy, and was a member of their Social Club, he was a cook at many of the church's functions.

Ray was predeceased by his siblings, Josephine Kiyak, Helen Boos, and Stanley Sawicz.

Ray is survived by his wife of 69 years, Margaret (Nimetz) Sawicz; his daughter, Ann Marie McCaffrey; his son Raymond J. Sawicz, Jr. and daughter-in-law, Roberta; his sister, Delores Klama; his five grandchildren: Tabitha and Clinton Sawicz; Diane Natusch; Kimberly Kuzma; and Robert Rathbun; his six great-grandchildren: Tiffany Barnes-Borland, Bianca Kuzma, Bailey Natusch, Richard Kuzma III, Scarlet and June Sawicz.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 23, 2025, from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Flynn and Son/Mitruska Funeral Home, 23 Ford Avenue, Fords.  Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 24, 2025, at 10:15 at the funeral home followed by an 11:00 AM Funeral Service at St. John the Baptist Orthodox Church.  Interment will be in the church cemetery in Perth Amboy.
