Raymond B
Bock
June 17, 1933 – March 4, 2025
Raymond B Bock passed away at his home, quietly, with his family at his side during the early morning hours of Tuesday, March 4, 2025.
Raymond was born and raised in Hoboken NJ. He was one for eight children born to Raymond A. and Christina Carrig Bock. In 1950 Ray entered the US Navy serving during the Korean War. Upon returning from his service to our country he married the love of his life, the former Patricia M Claffy. They were blessed with three children, Deborah, Raymond C, and Michael. Ray worked at several different companies in sales and finished his career at Schaefer-Stroh's Brewing Company where he was a sales manager retiring in 1989.
Ray was a pillar in his community who volunteered in many different areas of the community. He volunteered at the Piscataway Regional Day School for over 27 years helping multiple disabled students, and also assisted with the ESL Program (English as a second language.) He had even been named as the "Citizen of the Year at the Piscataway Regional Day School for all of his dedicated help over the years. He was a parishioner of St. Matthew's Catholic Church, and a 3rd Degree Knight of the Pope Pius XII Knights of Columbus Council in Edison. Ray was also involved in coaching the Edison Jets Pop Warner Football Team, the Middletown Little League Baseball, and was a CYO basketball coach. In addition to his volunteer service, he was passionate about his NY Giants and catching crabs at the Jersey Shore. He shared his passions with his grandchildren and grandchildren who all followed along as Giants fans and crabbers.
Ray is preceded in death by his parents Raymond A and Christina Bock; his brother James Bock; sisters Patricia Bock, Mary Ellen Holm, Peggy Grierson, Christina Davis, Terry Jones, and Kathleen Meyer; and his son Michael T. Bock passed away in February of 2015. He is survived by his dear wife of 71 years Patricia; his daughter Deborah A. Bussiere; son Raymond C. Bock and his wife Coleen; his daughter-in-law Roberta Bock, Michael's widow; nine grandchildren Kristen, Megan, Stephanie, Emily, Kelsey, Ashley, Alison, Kevin, and Rebecca; and 5 great-grandchildren; and dozens of cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
Services will take place at 2:00pm on Monday, March 10, 2025 at the Brigadier Gen. William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 350 Province Line Rd, Wrightstown, NJ. Arrangements are under the directions of the Flynn and Son/ Koyen Funeral Home, Metuchen.
