Obituary

Ramon A. Valera, 84, of Fords, died on Friday, December 17, 2010, at his home. He was born in Bani, Dominican Republic, and was formerly of Perth Amboy, where he resided for over 43 years, before moving to Fords 3 years ago. Ramon formerly owned and operated the Cafeteria Valera at 431 High St in Perth Amboy. He was a communicant and Eucharistic Minister of Our Lady of Fatima Church in Perth Amboy and was a member of the Nuestra Madre de Altagracia. He loved the NY Yankees baseball team. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather.

Ramon is predeceased by his son, Ramon A. Valera who died in 1973, and his 3 sisters: Josefa, Itagracia, and Margarita Valera. He is survived by his devoted wife of 45 years, Maria (Diaz) Valera; his beloved son and daughter-in-law, Ramon "Oscar" Valera and his wife Nicole of Edison; his loving grandson, Lucas Valera; his dear sisters: Thelma and Candida; and his dear brothers: Manuel, Juan, Carlos, Rafael, Miguel, and Julio Valera.

Funeral services will be on Tuesday, December 21, 2010, at 9:30 a.m. from the Flynn and Son Funeral Home, 424 East Avenue, Perth Amboy, followed by a 10:00 a.m. Funeral Liturgy at Our Lady of Fatima Church in Perth Amboy. Interment will follow in Alpine Cemetery in Perth Amboy. Visitation will be on Monday, December 20, 2010, from 2:00-4:00 & 7:00-9:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
