Ralph J. Cavallo Jr., 77, of Fords, passed away on January 21, 2018 at JFK Medical Center. He was born in Newark, NJ on June 20, 1940. He graduated from Seton Hall University Class of 1962, where he also completed ROTC and began Active Duty as a commissioned officer in the Army (2nd Lieutenant) He served in the US Army and National Guard for 27 years retiring as a Lieutenant Colonel of the 50

Armored Division, Adjutant General / State Inspector General of New Jersey. Ralph retired after 38 years with Wakefern Food Corporation serving as Director of Grocery Operations and Labor Relations Manager. Ralph was a volunteer Firefighter for the Fords Fire Company for 41 years where he served as Chaplin, Treasurer and Fire Commissioner. Ralph was a devoted husband and father who enjoyed spending time with family and friends. He enjoyed time at his summer home in Toms River and Ortley Beach and vacations in the Caribbean.
He was predeceased by his father, Ralph J Cavallo Sr.; mother, Angela Marie Cavallo; and brother, Daniel.
Ralph is survived by his wife, Edith Cavallo, of Fords; a sister, Mary Ann Cavallo, of Rahway; three sons, Ralph J Cavallo III, and his wife, Kathleen, of Beachwood; Michael J Cavallo, and his wife Kathy Jean, of Hillsborough; and Joey Cavallo, of Toms River; six grandchildren: Alexis, Erika, and Michael Cavallo, Julia Cavallo, Arlene Nettl and Danielle Soltesz; three great-grandchildren: Anna, Natalie Nettl, and Izabel Soltesz.
Visitation will be at the Flynn and Son Funeral Home, 23 Ford Ave., Fords, NJ 08863, on Wednesday, 2-4 and 7-9 pm. Funeral services will begin Thursday at 10 am at the funeral home followed by a 10:30 am Funeral Liturgy at Our Lady of Peace Church in Fords. Entombment will be in Woodbridge Memorial Gardens.
Donations in Ralph's name may be made to the American Diabetes Association or to St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
