Prudence Girgenti, 94 of Woodbridge, NJ, passed away Friday, October 11, 2013 at Raritan Bay Medical Center in Perth Amboy. Prudy as she liked to be called, was born in Carlstadt, NJ to the late Antonina and Vito Cataldo. She lived in Bensonhurst, Brooklyn before marrying and relocating to Flushing, NY.
Prudy was predeceased by her husband, Anthony Girgenti in 1990; two sisters, Concetta Falcone and Frances Polizzi; two brothers, Angelo and Peter Cataldo along with numerous nieces and nephews.
She is survived by her son Anthony Girgenti of Fords who is past Grand Knight at Our Lady of Peace Knights of Columbus - Council #9199. Daughter-in-law Denise S. Girgenti; beloved grandson Joseph Girgenti, who is a volunteer firefighter and 911 police dispatcher.
Visitation will be Monday 2-4 and 7-9 pm at the Flynn and Son Funeral Home, 23 Ford Ave., Fords, NJ 08863. Funeral services will begin Tuesday 9:30 am, followed by a 10 am Funeral Liturgy at Our Lady of Peace Church in Fords. Interment will follow at 2:30 pm in Mount St. Mary's cemetery in Flushing, NY.
