Pilar Martinez, 87, of Perth Amboy, died October 20, 2011, at Robert Wood Johnson Hospital in New Brunswick. Born October 12, 1924, in San Sebastian, Puerto Rico, she has resided in Perth Amboy since 1957. She worked as an assembler for Lee Filters in Edison. She was very proud of her three children who all served in the military during the Vietnam War.

Pilar was predeceased by her husband, Pedro Martinez, in 1966 and her late son, Carlos Martinez, in 1986. She is survived by her daughter, Rosalinda Cruz of Perth Amboy; son Pedro Martinez and his wife Edith of Perth Amboy; four grandchildren: William Laguer, Peter and Christopher Cruz, Diane Zazzaro and her husband Mark; and three great-grandchildren: Lauren, Jonathan, and Anthony Zazzaro.

Visitation will be Sunday, October 23, 2011, from 2:00-4:00 and 7:00-9:00 pm at the Flynn and Son Funeral Home, 424 East Ave., Perth Amboy, NJ 08861. Funeral services will begin Monday, October 24, 2011, 9:30 am at the funeral home, followed by a 10:00 am Funeral Liturgy at Our Lady of Fatima Church in Perth Amboy. Interment will follow in St. James Cemetery in Woodbridge.
