Obituary

Philomena Mary Beaton Van Savage, 89, of Edison entered into eternal rest Saturday, May 3, 2014, at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick. She was born in Harbor View, Nova Scotia, Canada, and has resided in Edison for the past 50 years.

Philomena was a communicant of St. Matthew's RC Church in Edison and a promoter of the Miraculous Medal. She was a wonderful cook and enjoyed making everything from scratch. Scottish music and songs of Nova Scotia were her favorites.

Philomena was predeceased by her husband, John F. Van Savage, in 2002. She is survived by her children: Joyce in Metuchen, Eleanor of Manhattan, and Dr. John Gerard and his wife Elizabeth of Shreveport, LA. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Isabella, Jacqueline, and John Jr.; her sisters, Sr. Christine Beaton CMD, Isabel Beaton of Sydney, Nova Scotia, and Lillian Csordas of Port Hope, Ontario.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 9 am at the Flynn and Son/Koyen Funeral Home, 319 Amboy Avenue, Metuchen, NJ 08840 followed by a 9:30 am funeral liturgy at St. Matthew's Church, 81 Seymour Ave., Edison, NJ 08817. Interment will follow in Resurrection Cemetery. Viewing will be held on Friday, May 9, 2014, from 6-8 pm.
