Petra Perez, 70, of Perth Amboy died Friday August 12, 2022, at Preferred Care Rehabilitation Center, in Old Bridge surrounded by her loving family.

Born to the late Cristino and Ramona Perez, Petra was raised in Camuy, Puerto Rico before coming to New Jersey as a young adult. Petra had odd jobs through out her life, but she knew in her heart that helping raise her nieces and nephews was her calling. Petra loved babysitting and raising children, she could always get a smile out of anyone. She was very easy going and had a positive attitude. Petra liked to relax with a good novela on televison and work on her embroidery, she could embroider just about anything for gift-giving. She also loved to do word search books as well as go to bingo events. Petra was a great story-teller, frequently regaling family with funny stories from the past. She would never complain, even if she was losing on the penny slots down in Atlantic City, Petra was happy to be there making memories with her loved ones.

Petra is predeceased by her brothers, Juan Antonio Perez and Angel Cristino Perez. She is survived by her 10 siblings, Maria Delia Perez, Jose Cristino Perez, Luz Teresa Perez, Maria Monserrate Maisonet, Carmen Awilda Perez, Jose Alberto Perez, Pedro Luis Perez, Carmen Rafaela Donate, Ramon Reinaldo Perez, and Ana Hilda Csepes; she is also survived by countless nieces, nephews, extended relatives, and her closest friends. Petra will be missed greatly.

Visitation will be held on Saturday August 20, 2022, from 2:00 PM to 7:00 PM in the Flynn and Son Funeral Home, 420 East Avenue, Perth Amboy, NJ 08861. A prayer service will begin at 6:00 PM in the funeral home. Cremation will be held privately, and Petra will be going home to Puerto Rico to be with her family.
