Peter Marco Matwijcow, 79, passed away peacefully Saturday, August 5th, 2017. Born and raised in Perth Amboy, NJ, he later graduated from Columbia University where he studied Psychology and History. He received his Master's in Education from the College of New Jersey (TCNJ) in Ewing, NJ. Peter was a member of the Armed Services having proudly served in the Army National Guard. Peter spent his professional life teaching at Roger Williams University, Providence, RI and the Princeton, NJ high school system. After retiring from teaching, he worked 26 years with the QSP Division of the Reader's Digest based in Rye, NY as a fun(d)raiser and motivational speaker. A gregarious, playful, kind-hearted, philanthropic, mentor, accomplished educator and friend to many, Peter was also an avid sailor, tennis player, skier, reader and patron of the arts.
Peter is survived by his partner of 25 years, Brian Tucker, his daughter Kiev and her husband Ed Siecienski, his grandchildren Alex and Alana, his sister Carole Mebane, brother-in-law Pierre Mebane, niece Carrie and nephew Elliott.
Viewing hours are Wednesday, August 9th from 6 – 8pm with a funeral service to follow Thursday, August 10th at 11:00 am at Flynn and Sons Funeral Home, 23 Ford Ave, Fords, NJ (732-826-0358).
