Peter A. Lukawski, 74, of Edison, died on Tuesday, November 13, 2012 at the JFK Medical Center in Edison.

He was born in Lublin, Poland and came to the US in the 1950's settling in Perth Amboy, before moving to Edison.

He graduated Perth Amboy High School, with the class of 1958. He received his Associates Degree at Alliance College in 1962, his BA Degree at Monmouth University in 1964 and his Masters Degree at Trenton State in 1979.

He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Beverly (Urbanski) Lukawski, his son Daniel A. Lukawski of Metuchen, his sister, Sophie Wiatr of Edison, his goddaughter and niece, Ursula Kowalski of Seaford DE, his nieces Gertrude Gassler of Branchburg and Bernadette McGowan Mountainside his aunt, Wanda Blajek of Perth Amboy, also surviving are several nephews, cousins and friends.


Mr Lukawski was an Industrial Arts Teacher with Elizabeth High School for 35 years before retiring in June of 2000.

He was a communicant of St. Helena's RC Church in Edison.

He was a member of the NEA, the NJEA and the Union County Education Association,

The Scroll Saw Association of the World and the Scroll Saw Association, Central Jersey Chapter.

He enjoyed woodworking, receiving various awards for woodworking competitions while attending arts and crafts shows for his creations of beautiful and unusually unique decorative items such as, large wildlife plaques, tudor style dollhouses, clocks and acrylic and wooden pens, just to name a few.

Funeral services will be on Saturday November 17, 2012 at 8:45 a.m. from the Flynn and son/ Koyen Funeral Home, 319 Amboy Ave. Metuchen, NJ 08840,

Followed by a 9:30 a.m. Funeral Liturgy at St. Helena's RC Church, 950 Grove Ave. Edison.

An Interment service will follow at Holy Trinity Cemetery Hopelawn.

Visitation will be on Friday November 16, 2012 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.
