Paul Kozub, Sr., 89 , of Edison, passed Saturday, November 17, 2012 at the NJ Veterans Home at Menlo Park .
He was born and raised in Perth Amboy, and has resided in Edison since 1950.
He graduated from Perth Amboy High School with the Class of '41
Mr. Kozub was a highly decorated WWII Veteran, serving with the U.S. Navy, with the rank as a Machinist Mate 1st Class and was recipient of several medals, including, the Bronze Star, with the "V" for Valor, The National Distinguished Service Medal, the NJ State Distinguished Service Medal, The Presidential Unit Badge, The Normandy Medal From the French Government, for his part in the Normandy Invasion, and The Battle Star for Service in Okinawa.
In 2005, his street of residency in Edison Twp. was renamed and ceremonially dedicated in his honor, for his bravery and distinguished service during WW II.
Paul was a 50 year member of the Clara Barton American Legion Post #324 in Edison.
He served as a Middlesex County Committeeman for the Democratic Party in his district.
Also served as past president of the Clara Barton Senior Citizens Club, and in April of 2002, Mr. Kozub was honored with a proclamation for his services, highlighting his role with this club.
He was a retired supervisor with the Edison Twp. Dept of Public Works.
Mr. Kozub was predeceased by his beloved wife of 59 years, Helen Kozub, who died in 2006 and his dearest son, Paul, Jr. who died in 2009 .
He leaves behind his beloved daughter, Carol Buhr, and her husband, Robert, of Crofton, MD, and his loving grandson Michael Peton, of Millersville, MD.
Funeral services will be on Saturday, November 24, 2012 at 9:30 a.m. at the Flynn and Son Funeral Home, 23 Ford Ave., Fords , followed by interment at Resurrection Cemetery, Piscataway.
Visiting hours will be on Friday, November 23, 2012 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to the Clara Barton Senior Citizens Club.
