Patricia M.
Bock
March 17, 1934 – June 8, 2025
Patricia M. Bock passed away at her home, quietly, with her family at her side during the afternoon on Sunday, June 8, 2025.
Pat was born, Patricia Mary Claffy, in "Da Bronx" on St. Patty's Day, March 17th, 1934. Her mom told her that the St. Patty's Day Parade was for her every year. She was the youngest of two girls born to Thomas and Mary "Mae" Claffy. While her sister Rita was 8 years older than her, they remained loving sisters as well as friends throughout their life. After graduating from Walton HS, Bronx, NY, she went to work in Manhattan as a Secretary until meeting and falling in love with her husband, Ray. After a short stay in North Bergen, they "moved to the country" which was Edison, NJ. They were blessed with three children: Deborah, Raymond C., and Michael. In the early days, Pat was mainly a stay-at-home mom who volunteered at her church, was a Candy Striper at JFK hospital and among other activities took part in the family's involvement with the Edison Jets as a supporter to Dad who was a coach and Debbie, Ray and Michael who were involved as participants and eventually coaches. Mom was at the field every night to be with family every football season. And once the kids were in school, she worked several office jobs including Sleep Rite Furniture until fulfilling her wish to work at a school for special needs children.
This career was inspired by her nephew, Gerald, who was born with special needs. He became a joyous part of the family's life, a beacon of hope and went on to achieve some incredible accomplishments including singing the National Anthem at Fenway Park and the Fleet Center in Boston where he grew up. She worked at Piscataway Regional Day School for 25 years as a Teacher Assistant until the age of 79.
Hobbies included mastering a crab cake recipe to support the family's obsession with crabbing, being a tailgating NY Giant Fan and Dallas Cowboy hater, hosting her St. Patty's Day party and serving corn beef while dressed in green from head to toe. She was known to go all out by celebrating other holidays which usually included outrageous, colorful but stylish outfits. She was ready to sing or dance whenever called upon. Her quick wit and sense of humor was enjoyed by all.
Pat was preceded death by her husband, Raymond of 70 years who passed away on March 4, 2025, her parents, Thomas and Mary Claffy; her sister, Rita Smith; and her beloved youngest son, Michael, who passed away in February 2015. She is survived by her daughter Deborah A. Bussiere; son Raymond C. Bock and his wife, Coleen; her daughter-in-law Roberta, Michael's widow; nine grandchildren: Kristen, Megan, Stephanie, Emily, Kelsey, Ashley, Alison, Kevin and Rebecca; six great-grandchildren; and dozens of cousins, nephews and nieces.
