Obituary

Ophelia DeMarco of Monroe died Wednesday, September 28, 2011, at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick.

Born in Florence, Italy, on November 2, 1925, she immigrated to the United States at age 11 and lived in Perth Amboy, Edison and Monroe. Nicknamed Dolly, she worked at Rutgers University Accounting Office in New Brunswick for 30 years, retiring in 2002. She graduated from Catherine Gibbs Secretarial School, received an Associates Degree from Middlesex County College and attended Rutgers University. She was Treasurer of the Women's League of R.U. for 15 years.

Dolly was predeceased by her husband and love of her life, Michael DeMarco, in 2002 and her late son, Dennis DeMarco in 2006.
Surviving are her daughter Linda Amabile and son-in-law Vincent of Metuchen; seven grandchildren: Christina Peeney, Vincent M. Amabile, Michael DeMarco, Catherine DeMarco, Rachael DeMarco, Sarah DeMarco, and Matthew DeMarco; two great- grandchildren: Lauren Peeney and Thomas Peeney; sisters: Jean Mallin and brother-in-law Dr. Robert Mallin of Tewksbury, Yolanda Seaman and brother-in-law Edward Seaman of Edison, and brother Albert Magro and sister-in-law Alice of West Virginia.

Funeral Services will begin on Monday October 3, 2011, at 10:15am from Flynn and Son Funeral Home, 319 Amboy Avenue, Metuchen, NJ. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00am at Most Holy Rosary Church. Interment will be in NJ Veteran's Cemetery. Visiting hours are on Sunday, October 2, 2011, from 2:00-4:00 and 7:00-9:00 pm at the funeral home.
