Norene Raves, 85, of Fords, passed away on December 18, 2022, at the Venetian in South Amboy. She was born in Elizabeth on March 16, 1937. Norene was a graduate of St. Mary's High School in Elizabeth, Class of 1954. She started her career at Bell Telephone in Elizabeth, NJ as a Switchboard Operator. She later worked at Stoller's Bakery in Carteret, NJ and then worked at Parness Bakery in Perth Amboy for 20 years. She retired as a Communications Operator at Raritan Bay Medical Center where she worked for 20 years. Norene cared for her husband, she enjoyed gardening, baking, reading and spending her summers in Spring Lake. She liked watching horror and crime movies.

Norene was predeceased by her husband, Mathew Raves, in 2019 and a sister, Betty J. Barry.

She is survived by four daughters, Elizabeth Johnson, of Holiday, FL; Ann Stempinski, and her husband Dennis, of South Amboy; Mary Raves, of Clinton; and Lorraine Nassiri, and her husband, Ben, of Greenbrook; four grandchildren, James and Alan Nassiri; and Emily and Matthew Stempinski; two great-grandchildren, James and Ariana.

Visitation will be at the Flynn and Son Funeral Home, 23 Ford Ave., Fords, NJ 08863, on Thursday, December 22, 2022, 4-7 pm. Funeral services will begin Friday 10 am at the funeral home followed by a 10:30 am Funeral Liturgy at Our Lady of Peace Church in Fords. Interment will be in St. Gertrude Cemetery in Colonia.

Memorial contributions in Norene's name may be made to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital.
