Muriel Bosha Greenhouse (nee Brandwein), 86, of Columbus (Mansfield Township), NJ, passed away on July 16, 2011. Her son, Kenneth E. Greenhouse of Marietta, GA, passed away later that day from complications due to ALS (Lou Gehrig's disease).
The family will be recieving mourners on Tuesday, July 19, 2011, at 10:30 am at the Flynn and Son Funeral Home, 424 East Avenue, Perth Amboy, NJ 08861. Funeral service will follow at 11:00 am at the funeral home. Interment will be in Beth Israel Cemetery in Woodbridge, NJ.
Muriel was born on August 9, 1924, in Perth Amboy, NJ, where she resided for 64 years. In 1988, she moved to Homestead in Columbus, NJ. She was a 1940 graduate of Perth Amboy High School, attended Ohio University in Athens, Ohio, and graduated from the Packard Business School in New York. During World War II, she was employed by the Office of Price Administration as Assistant Chief Clerk of the Perth Amboy Rationing Board. She also served the community as an Air Raid Warden. She was an Office Manager for 20 years prior to her retirement in 1987. In Perth Amboy, Muriel was active in the Jewish community and the community at large. She served as PTA President and as a Cub Scout leader. She and her late husband, Marvin, founded a Yiddish club at the YMHA, which they continued in their new community in Columbus.
She was a Life Member of Hadassah and served as co-editor of its bulletin in Perth Amboy. She was a Charter Member of the Burlington County Chapter of Hadassah, serving as its Treasurer for 17 years. She was married to Marvin Greenhouse for 56 years, who pre-deceased her in 2000. She was the daughter of the late Samuel and Sarah Brandwein, and the sister of the late Marshall Brandwein. Her son Richard died in 1992. She is survived by two sons and two daughters-in-law: David H. Greenhouse of Boonton Township, NJ, Susan Greenhouse of Marietta, GA, and Jack W. and Marilyn Greenhouse of Germantown, MD, and grandchildren: Abraham, Sara, Max, and Rebecca.
Donations in Muriel's memory may be made by contributing toward the college education of Kenneth's children, Max and Rebecca.
