Mona MacMahon, 87, of Edison, passed peacefully, with the love of her family at her side, on Monday, September 7, 2015, at the Haven Hospice Unit at the JFK Medical Center in Edison.
She was born in Limerick, Ireland, immigrated to the US in 1955, as an accomplished musician, to perform at Carnegie Hall in NY City as "Miss Irish TV". She was formerly of NY City, Staten Island, NY, and Piscataway, before moving to Edison in 1974. She retired five years ago, after many years as the Pianist at the Metuchen Inn.
Her family and her music were her life. She also appeared on the "Arthur Godfrey" and "Joe Franklin" Shows.
She is predeceased by her beloved husband, Cornelius J. MacMahon, who died in 1982.
Mona leaves behind, her six children: Maria Huston of Monmouth Jct.; Grace Moschberger of Middletown; Erina Erickson and her husband, Lawrence, of Piscataway; Neil A. MacMahon and his wife, Lee; Douglas M. McMahon and his wife, Juliane; and Winston B. MacMahon and his wife,Rowena, all of Edison; 13 grandchildren; a great-grandson; and her sister, Ann Farrell in Dublin, Ireland.
Visitation will be on Thursday, September 10, 2015, from 5 to 9 pm at the Flynn and son/Koyen Funeral Home, 319 Amboy Ave., Metuchen, NJ 08840. Funeral services will begin on Friday, September 11, 2015, at 9:45 a.m. from the Flynn and son/Koyen Funeral Home followed by a 10:30 a.m. Funeral Liturgy at Our Lady of Peace Church, Fords. Cremation will follow privately.
