Mildred T. (nee: Mazzarella) Schmatz, 87, of Fords, passed peacefully on Sunday, July 31, 2022, at the Hackensack Meridian Medical Center in Old Bridge, NJ.  She was born on October 16, 1934, in Manhattan, NY, and raised in the Bronx, NY. She had been a resident of Fords for over 60 years.

Mildred was a retired Branch Manager for the First Savings and Loan Bank in Iselin, NJ.  She was a communicant of Our Lady of Peace RC Church in Fords.

She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 63 years, William "Bill" Schmatz, who died in 2019;  her beloved son, John Schmatz, who died in 1996; her parents, John and Millie Mazzarella; her siblings: Giosue "Joe" Mazzarella, Nicholas Mazzarella, and Marie Kelly; and her aunt, Theresa Calciano.

Mildred leaves behind her 3 beloved sons: William Schmatz and his wife, Laurie, of Newtown, PA; Joseph Schmatz and his wife, Donna, of Metuchen; and George Schmatz and his wife, Donna, of Manalapan; her loving daughter, Dianne Marczak and her husband, Andrew, of Manalapan; her six dear grandchildren: Melissa, David, Rachael, Kelli, Lindsay, and Christopher; her four precious great-grandchildren: Jacquelyn, Maddison, Mason and Nathaniel; and her brothers, John Mazzarella and his wife, Jane, and George Mazzarella and his wife, Ruth.

Visitation will be on Thursday morning August 4, 2022, from 9:30 am to 11:30 am at the Flynn and Son Funeral Home, 23 Ford Avenue, Fords, NJ 08863. Funeral services will begin at 11:30 am followed by a 12:00 Noon Funeral Liturgy at Our Lady of Peace RC Church, Fords. Interment will follow in St. Gertrude Cemetery, Colonia.
