Michael Ross passed away peacefully in Stamford, Connecticut on November 10th, 2021. Michael was born in Bronx, New York on April 9th, 1933. He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Barbara; and his children: Alex, Evan, Steven, and Marjorie. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Austin, Scott, Owen, Dylan, Charlie, Sadie, Liam, and Anderson. He was predeceased by his parents, Sam and Lee Rosen and his step-fathers, Max Schwartz and Eddie Ross.
Off-Broadway the Ross's produced Two Hearts Over Easy, We'll Meet Again, Baba-Lucy, Mamaleh, Excuse Me, I'm Talking, and many other shows. His greatest accomplishment was Jelly Roll, for which they won the Lucille Lortel, Outer Critics Circle, 2 Obies awards for the best off-Broadway musical, and received a Drama Desk nomination.
Other shows that they have produced and managed include Twenty-Five Years of Rock and Roll, which became The International Living Legends, Princess Grace and the Fazzari's, which was performed by the late actress, Dorothy Louden, and Lois Nettleton. Never Too Late, starring Eddie Bracken. Bingo Long and His Traveling All-Stars and Motor Kings, written by Ossie Davis and George Fishoff, as well as many more.
Michael had been responsible for arranging tours for The Duke Ellington Orchestra, which became the Mercer Ellington Orchestra, and Don McLean (American Pie). His film credits as a writer include Million Dollar Day, Bad, South of Hell Canyon, and When I Get Back to the World.
Funeral services under the direction of Flynn and Son Funeral Home, 23 Ford Avenue, Fords, NJ, will be held graveside at Mount Lebanon Cemetery, 189 Gill Lane, Iselin, NJ, on Sunday, November 14th at 12:30 pm. Rabbi Nathan Weiner of Temple Beth Tikva will be officiating. His family will be sitting Shiva on Monday, November 15th from 2:00 pm to 8:30 pm. Contact the funeral home for further information.
