Michael T. Menafro, 79 years, of Fords, died Wednesday, November 24, 2010, at St. Barnabas Medical Center, Livingston.
He was born in Newark and had lived in Fords for the last 47 years. He was a veteran of the Korean War, serving in the U.S. Army with the 187th Airborne Division. He was a firefighter for the City of Newark for 25 years before retiring in 1984. He was a communicant of Our Lady of Peace Roman Catholic Church, Fords. He was a committeeman for the Fords Democratic Club, a former member of the Woodbridge Twp. Zoning Board, a member of the American Legion T. Nulty Post #471 in Iselin, and was an avid outdoorsman.
Michael is survived by his wife of 55 years, Constance "Connie" Menafro; his two sons: Mark V. Menafro and his wife Joanne Juzwiak of Hillsborough, and Steven Menafro and his wife Tana of Colonia; his daughter: Lisa Menafro-Palma and her husband, Philip of Keasbey; his six grandchildren: Daniel, Matthew, Suzy, Sara, Michael, and Madison; his two step-grandchildren: Philip and Heather; and his brother, Joseph Menafro and his wife Mary in Arizona.
Visitation will be from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. Sunday, November 28 at the Flynn and Son Funeral Home, 23 Ford Ave., Fords. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, November 29, 2010, from the funeral home, followed by a 10:30 a.m. Funeral Liturgy at Our Lady of Peace Church, Fords. Entombment will follow in the Clover Leaf Memorial Park Cemetery, Woodbridge.
