Matthew P. Martelli, 91, of Fords, passed away on June 25, 2024, at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, New Brunswick, surrounded by his loving family. Matthew was born in Perth Amboy to the late Peter and Antoinette Martelli. He was a resident of Fords for 56 years. Matthew served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. He then worked as a Mechanic for Raritan Copper Works, Perth Amboy and retired from Carborundum, Keasbey in the mid 1990's. He was a member of Good Shepherd Parish, Holy Rosary Church in Hopelawn.
Matthew was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He loved spending time with family, especially his beloved granddaughters and departed faithful companion, Stray. He enjoyed watching his favorite sports teams, the New York Giants and New York Rangers; and he also had a passion for Indy Car Racing. In his free time, he loved working with his hands, fixing anything that came his way, and crafting useful inventions to help his family. Matthew always lit up any room he was in by making everyone laugh and will be remembered as someone who would bring a smile to your face.
Matthew was predeceased by his sisters, Justine Miller and Antointte Kozmata.
Matthew is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Anna E. Martelli; his son, Matthew Martelli and his wife, Donna; his daughter, Laurie Martelli-Solomon; his grandchildren, Adrienne Solomon-Barbuto and her husband, Andrew Barbuto; Kimberly Solomon and her partner, Nicholas Hancock; and his sister, Anna Ruszck.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 27, 2024, from 4 PM to 8 PM at Flynn and Son Funeral Home, 23 Ford Avenue, Fords.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 28, 2024, at 10:30 AM, from Flynn and Son Funeral Home, 23 Ford Avenue, Fords followed by an 11 AM Funeral Liturgy at Good Shepherd Parish, Holy Rosary Church, Hopelawn. Entombment will follow in St. Gertrude Mausoleum, Colonia.
