Matthew H. Herbert, 59, of Fords, died with his family at his side on Wednesday, September 28, 2011, at the Raritan Bay Medical Center in Perth Amboy.
He was born in Perth Amboy and has resided for most of his life in Fords. He was an industrial painter for many years. His family was his life. He will be greatly missed by all, especially his grandson, Richie.
Matthew is survived by his wife of 30 years, Maureen Herbert; his son, Matthew W. Herbert, who serves with the Woodbridge Township Police Department; his daughter, Kara Herbert and son-in-law, Richard Mann, of Milltown; his grandson, Richard A. Mann II; three brothers: Mark Herbert and his wife, Linda of Tucson, AZ; Marshall Herbert and his wife, Diane of Easton, PA; and Edward Chovan and his wife, Jennifer of Hillsborough; three sisters: Lynn Herbert of San Francisco, CA; Meryl Hays and her husband John, of Fords; and Jennifer Takacs and her husband, Andrew of East Brunswick; his mother-in-law, Mary Blois of Perth Amboy; and his five nieces and nephews: Matthew J., John, Alex, Ana, and Juliana.
Visitation will be on Saturday, October 1, 2011, from 2:00-4:00 and 7:00-9:00 p.m. at the Flynn and Son Funeral Home, 23 Ford Avenue, Fords NJ 08863. A private cremation will follow.
