Stathis
July 9, 1927 – April 7, 2021
Maryjane Stathis (nee: Higgins), of Edison, entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, April 7, 2021.
Born in Coatesville, PA to Philip and Caroline Higgins, Maryjane lived in New York City, before moving to Menlo Park Terrace in 1953. She lived in Menlo Park Terrace for 50 years before moving to Edison in 2003.
Maryjane earned her R.N. Nursing Degree from St. Mary's School of Nursing in Philadelphia. Her career in nursing included working at Mt. Sinai Hospital in New York City, Roosevelt Hospital in Edison and Menlo Park Veterans Memorial Home in Edison where she retired in 1992 as Head Nurse.
A long-time communicant of Our Lady of Peace RC Church in Fords, Maryjane was also a member of A.A.R.P. and various nursing organizations throughout her career.
Beloved wife of the late James P. Stathis, who predeceased her in 1981. Predeceased by her daughter-in-law, Suzanne Stathis. Loving mother of James P. Stathis, Maureen C. DiBetta, Mary Elizabeth (Liz) and husband Tom Szatkowski and Gregory A. Stathis, Esq. and wife Kathryn. Cherished grandmother of James P. Stathis, III and wife Emma, Robert J. Stathis, Salem T. DiBetta, Lindsay M. Szatkowski, Thomas J. Szatkowski, Alexis M. Stathis, Gregory J. Stathis and Cassandra J. Stathis. Caring sister of the late Reverend Philip A. Higgins, Richard Higgins and Ann T. Hilton
Family and friends may visit Monday, April 12 th from 4:00pm to 7:00pm at the Flynn and Son Funeral Home, 23 Ford Avenue, Fords. The funeral will commence on Tuesday, April 13 th at 10:00am at the funeral home, followed by a Funeral Mass at Our Lady of Peace RC Church in Fords at 10:30am. Interment will follow at Forest Green Park Cemetery in Morganville.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Maryjane's memory to the American Heart Association, P.O. Box 417005 Boston, MA 02241-7005.
