Obituary

Mary Pascarelli Zullo passed away peacefully and was reunited with her loved ones on May 11, 2017 at the age of 88. Born in New Brunswick, Mrs. Zullo grew up in Highland Park and resided in Edison for the past 64 years.

Mrs. Zullo was predeceased by her parents Nichola and Rose Pascarelli; her husband Gennaro "Jimmy" Zullo to whom she was married for 37 years and passed in 1983; her two brothers Russell and John.  She was also predeceased by her three beloved children John J. Zullo in 2001, Mary Ann Alvarez in 2006 and James "Bobby" Zullo in 2013.

Mary attended Highland Park High School.  She was the co-owner of Gennaro A. Zullo Trucking.  Mary and her husband were members of the Italian American Club in Edison for many years.  Mary was a communicant of Guardian Angel Church in Edison.

Mary was a vibrant woman who loved her family and friends.  Mary enjoyed cooking her infamous Italian dishes for everyone.  Her front door was always open to anyone for a cup of coffee or a home cooked meal.  Mary enjoyed spending time with her friends' playing cards and Pokeno.  She was an active member of the Edison Senior Citizens for many years.  She loved to travel and enjoyed bus trips to Atlantic City.  Mary was proud of her Italian heritage and loved passing on her traditions.   Mary made people feel good and will be missed by many.

In her later years, Mary enjoyed spending time with her great-grandchildren Aprille, Holly, Richie and Tommy who all frequently visited with her. She loved telling them stories about her beloved mother and her childhood in Highland Park.  She would sing them classic Doris Day songs and loved singing to them in Italian.  They will all miss their Great-Nana immensely.

Mary is survived by her two loving granddaughters Linda Reynolds of Old Bridge and her husband Michael,and Rachel Crawford of Edison.
She is also survived by granddaughters Patricia Cyktor and Karie Penny; a son-in-law Lenny Alvarez; a daughter-in-law, Noreen Zullo; eight great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law and several nieces and nephews.

Private entombment services will be held at St. Peters Cemetery, New Brunswick.
Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Flynn and Son/Koyen Funeral Home, 319 Amboy Avenue, Metuchen, NJ 08840.
