Obituary

Mary A. Nagy, 102 of Fords, passed away peacefully in her home on Thursday, January 25th, 2024.

Mary was born in the Keasbey section of Woodbridge Township on August 29th, 1921. She had then resided in Edison for most of her life before moving to Fords 11 years ago.

Early in life, Mary took on a motherly role as the eldest child caring for her younger siblings after their mother lost her sight at a young age. She then met her husband John at the Fords Movie Theater and they married in 1941 when she was 20 years old. When John left to serve in WWII, Mary served her country by working at the Raritan Arsenal manufacturing ammunition. John returned home from war in 1947 and they began their family in 199 First Avenue, which was later named Hoover.

For the next several decades, Mary's life and dreams came together. Whether it was one or a hundred people, everyone was always welcome at the Nagy household. The next three generations of our family would join together there in good and bad times, through tears and laughter as well as births and deaths. The one constant always being her welcoming arms, bright smile and warm heart. Whatever you called it: Mary's, Mom's, or Granny's, it certainly was the house that built this family. Later in life, Mary enjoyed watching game shows and courtroom television.

Mary was the daughter of the late Frank and Elizabeth Vitkosky. She was predeceased by her husband John, who passed in 1984 and her daughter Joan Waple as well as her siblings Elizabeth Jorgensen, Dorothy Grezner and Robert Vitkosky.

She leaves behind her beloved daughter, Mary E. Mason of Fords and son, John R. Nagy of Edison, her cherished grandchildren, Donna Christison (Ron) of West Creek, NJ, Richard Mason of Fords, Bob Mason of Fords, Michael Mason (Michelle) of Fords, Roy Rice (Diane) of South Brunswick, Linda Oliva (Oscar) of Fords and Kevin Nagy (Kim) of Fords.

Also surviving are 6 Great Grandchildren, Chelsea (Rob), Ryan, Jillian, Mackenzie, Samantha and Michael as well as 2 Great-Great Grandchildren, Ryan Lee and Elizabeth.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 30th, 2024 from 4-8 pm at the Flynn and Son Funeral Home, 23 Ford Ave. Fords, NJ 08863.

Funeral services will take place on Wednesday, January 31st, 2024 at 10:30 am at the funeral home, followed with an interment in Our Lady of Hungary Cemetery in Hopelawn.
