Mary "Marie"
M. Walsh
February 5, 1929 – January 19, 2024
Mary "Marie" M. Walsh passed away peacefully on Friday, January 19, 2024, at the Community Medical Center in Toms River. She had been blessed with 94 amazing years.
Marie was born and raised in Brooklyn, NY; one of four children to Angelo and Alvina Lina Marino. After high school she took a position with ADT in New York where she met the love of her life, Frank Walsh. They married in 1955 and stayed in Brooklyn for a few more years. They eventually moved to Carteret, NJ, and then settled in Metuchen, NJ, to raise their family. While in Metuchen, they were active members of St. Francis of Assisi Roman Catholic Cathedral, and participated in many of the parish activities and groups.
Her dear husband, Frank, passed away in 1993 and Marie remained in the family home until 2003 when she moved to Fort Myers, Florida. She enjoyed the sunshine and driving her blingy golf cart. She was an avid golfer and she lived overlooking the second tee. A lover of life, she enjoyed daily road trips and traveling. She cherished her trips to Europe and cruises to Alaska, Bermuda, and the Caribbean. When home, Marie shared wonderful shopping trips with her sister, Gloria. She loved dining out and trying new restaurants. She also appreciated music and enjoyed dancing. Even her "down time" was spent working on word puzzles. In 2019, she moved back to NJ, to Manchester, to be nearer to her family. Cooking her favorite dishes and spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren was very important to her. She was a very giving soul who loved keeping in touch with her extended family and talking to them on the phone. She was known for being a great listener.
In addition to her parents and her husband Frank, Marie was preceded in death by her sister, Janice Schiotis and her brother, Kenneth F. Marino. She is survived by her devoted son, James Walsh (Karen) of Lawrenceville NJ, and daughter, Denise Hickson (Christopher) of West Orange NJ; and her beloved sister, Gloria Siano of Manchester, NJ. She is also survived by her loving grandchildren: Alexa Walsh, Valerie Walsh, Dominique Marino, Antonio Marino, and Dina Marino; great-grandchildren: Janiya, Naveah, Darrian, Kaylia, Jacquelyn; and many nieces and nephews.
