Mary Ann Lombardi, 79, of Edison, NJ, passed away peacefully on April 23, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Florence, SC, she made Edison her home for the past 39 years.
Mary Ann was a proud graduate of St. Mary's High School (Class of 1963), Newark State Teachers College—now Kean University (Class of 1967), and Seton Hall University (Class of 1971). She devoted 35 years of her life to the Piscataway Board of Education, where she served as both a social studies teacher and school counselor before retiring in 2003.
Mary Ann was predeceased in death by her beloved husband of 47 years, Vincent; her granddaughter, Isabella; her parents, Adolph and Ruth Vanco; and her brothers-in-law, Julius Palfi, Kenneth Kijowski, and Anthony Lombardi. She is survived by her devoted sons, Brian Lombardi of South Salem, New York, and his wife Natasha, along with their daughters, Madeline and Charlotte; and Kevin Lombardi of Edison, New Jersey, and his wife Dara, with their children, Elijah and Gabriella. She also leaves behind her twin sister, Ruth Palfi of Colonia, NJ, and sister, Janice Kijowski of Fords, NJ, as well as her sister-in-law, Olga Lombardi of Alta Loma, CA. In addition, she is lovingly remembered by numerous nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
Cremation will be private. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Flynn & Son/Koyen Funeral Home, 319 Amboy Ave., Metuchen, NJ 08840.
Mary Ann was an advocate for those that needed advocacy and her legacy will live on in the hearts and actions of those who knew her. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the American Cancer Society .
