Mary Karch (nee: Pavlo), 85, passed away on May 31, 2017 at JFK Medical Center, Edison. She was born in Jersey City, raised in Slovakia, and had resided in Edison since 1959. Mary was a factory worker, having worked for Emerson, Kraft, Boyle Midway, and Cosmair (L'Oreal). She retired in 1996. She was a communicant and member of the choir at Holy Family Church in Linden, past President of the Slovak Rosary Society, past officer and member of the First Catholic Slovak Union, Slovak Culture Club, Slovak League of America and the Slovak Heritage Festival Committee.
Mary was predeceased by her husband, Michael, in 2011 to whom she was married for 52 years and her brothers, Jan and Michal Pavlo.
Surviving are her children: Michael J. of Riverside County, CA; Mary Kapitan and her husband, Gary, of Edison; Ann Garris and her husband, Gerard, of Old Bridge; her grandchildren: Michael G, Tim, Kim, Melissa, and Sarah; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 9:30 AM on Wednesday, June 7, 2017, at Flynn and Son/Koyen Funeral Home, 319 Amboy Ave., Metuchen followed by a 10:30 AM Funeral Liturgy at Holy Family Church, Linden. Interment will follow at St. Gertrude Cemetery, Colonia. Viewing will be Tuesday, 4-8 PM.
