Mary Meagher Harkins passed peacefully in her sleep, on Tuesday, September 17, 2019. Born in her home in New Brunswick, NJ on May 7, 1924, Mary was an alumna of Mount St. Mary's Academy (1940) and Georgian Court College (1944) with a degree in Chemistry. Before starting a family in 1955, she worked for her father's wholesale ice cream business and the Scott Paper company. Mary also owned and operated an ice cream distribution company, along with her brother Jack, from 1978-1983. She was a communicant at Our lady of Peace Church in Fords, since 1960.

Mary was predeceased by her beloved husband, Hugh (2008) and son, Neil (2005).

She is survived by her children: Hugh, Mary, Anne (Robert), James (Jeanne), Margaret (Eugene), Edward (Theresa), daughter-in-law, Susan Spann, grandchildren: Ian, Erin, Connor, Sophie, Andrew, Julianna, Bryce, Dylan, Edward, Luke, and Catherine, as well as many special nieces and nephews.

A memorial visitation will take place on Friday, September 20, 2019 from 4 pm to 8 pm, at the Flynn and Son Funeral Home, 23 Ford Ave. Fords, NJ 08863.  A Funeral Liturgy will be held on Saturday, September 21, 2019, at 10:15 a.m. at St. Francis Cathedral in Metuchen.
