Mary Pasacano was born to Joseph and Mary Vargo on November 5, 1928, in Perth Amboy, New Jersey. She attended Our Lady of Hungary School and graduated from Perth Amboy High School in 1946.

Mary was predeceased by her parents, Joseph and Mary Vargo; her brothers, Stephen and Michael; her beloved husband, Joseph, who passed away on April 12, 2001; and her son-in-law, Raymond Cipperly.

She is lovingly remembered by her children, Cynthia Kellenberger and Susan Cipperly; her son-in-law, Bob Kellenberger; her granddaughters, Kristin Kellenberger, Susan Sheehan, and Lauren Cipperly-Socie; her four great-grandchildren; and the many family members and friends whose lives she touched throughout her 97 years.

Mary was a lifelong member of Our Lady of Hungary Church, now Most Holy Name of Jesus Parish, where her faith and love of music were an important part of her life. A longtime member of the church choir, she often shared her beautiful voice at weddings and other special occasions. She also proudly sang the National Anthem at numerous public events.

Mary’s career began at the Mohawk Dress Shop in Perth Amboy and, following graduation, at Merck Pharmaceuticals. After becoming a mother, she devoted much of her time to her family, church, and community, serving first as Vice President and later as President of the PTA at Our Lady of Hungary School.

She later returned to full-time employment at Gulton Industries, where she worked in the laboratory for more than 10 years. Mary went on to work for the City of Perth Amboy and ultimately served as Court Administrator. She retired at the remarkable age of 84, after more than 33 years of dedicated service to the city she called home.

Mary will be remembered for her joyful spirit, her love of music, and her devotion to those around her. She loved to sing in English, Latin, Hungarian, and even a little Spanish. Well-read and blessed with an exceptional command of the English language, Mary had a wonderful sense of humor and loved sharing stories and laughter with her family. She was a loyal friend to many and, above all, deeply devoted to her family until the very end.

Her family will remember the love, faith, laughter, and countless memories that filled her long and remarkable life. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her.

Visitation will be at the Flynn and Son/Mitruska Funeral Home, 23 Ford Ave., Fords, NJ 08863, on Friday, September 11, 2026, from 4-7 pm. Funeral Services will begin on Saturday at 10 am at the funeral home, followed by a 10:30 am Funeral Liturgy at Holy Trinity Church in Perth Amboy. Interment will be in Our Lady of Hungary Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made in Mary’s memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, a charity that was especially close to her heart.
