Obituary

Mary De Angelo (nee: Masucci), 90, of Woodbridge, died on Tuesday, May 10, 2011, at the St. Joseph's Nursing Home in Woodbridge.

She was born in Bound Brook and lived in Perth Amboy. She was a resident of Hopelawn for 56 years.

Mary was a member of Woodbridge High School's Class of '37. She was a communicant of Most Holy Rosary Church in Hopelawn, a member of the Woodbridge Democratic Club, the Hopelawn Senior Citizens Club, The Knights of Columbus of Edison, and the Metuchen Elks.

Mary was best known as "Mrs. D" who, along with her husband Joseph, organized and ran the Hopelawn Youth Organization from the mid 1950's thru the 1960's including sports activities and the "Friday Night Dances" at the Hopelawn School which became Hopelawn's version of "Happy Days."

She is predeceased by her husband, Joseph De Angelo, who died in 2002; her three sisters: Jennie Mucilli, Josephine Viana, and Angelina Canella; and her brother, Anthony Masucci. She is survived by her son, Joseph A. De Angelo and his wife Susan of Wayside; her daughter, Bernadine Garber and her husband Richard of Holmdel; her sister, Gloria Kaminsky of Crystal River, FL; her four grandchildren: Richard Garber and his wife Nicole of Jersey City; Christopher Garber and his wife Melissa of Latham, NY; Joseph De Angelo of Ocean, NJ; and Timothy De Angelo and his wife Nicole of West Chester, PA.; and her five great-grandchildren: Emory, Hudson, Sadie Jane, Reed Richard, and Ava Marie.

Funeral Services will be on Saturday, May 14, 2011, at 8:30 a.m. from the Flynn and Son Funeral Home, 23 Ford Ave., Fords NJ 08863 followed by a Funeral Liturgy at 9:00 a.m. at Most Holy Rosary Church in Hopelawn. Interment will follow in Holy Rosary Cemetery Hopelawn.
Visitation will be on Friday, May 13, 2011, from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m.
