Marlene
Yaros
August 24, 1936 – October 6, 2022
Marlene Yaros, 86, of Metuchen, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loved ones on October 6, 2022.
She was born in Perth Amboy to the late, William Pastrick and Mary Banas Pastrick. Marlene lived in Edison in her early years before moving to Metuchen, where she resided for the last 58 years.
Marlene graduated from Perth Amboy High School in 1954 and later worked as a secretary for Socony-Mobil Corporation in Edison where she was highly respected. Marlene was a communicant of St. Francis Cathedral in Metuchen.
Marlene adored her husband, Jerry and loved him with all her heart. His devotion to Marlene was seen and admired by all. He showered her with love and affection every day. Jerry and Marlene were truly best friends and a storybook love story. He took great care in listening, providing comfort, dining at her favorite restaurants and sharing their days together every day. He always made sure Marlene was happy and taken care of with his thoughtful ways, hugs and immense love for her.
She always felt blessed and grateful for her four children as she praised, loved, cherished, supported and was always there for all of them. Marlene was a bright ray of sunshine to everyone she touched, and her quick wit and sense of humor was a gift. She also had a wonderful eye for fashion and enjoyed dressing glamorously. Marlene lit up the room with her fashion sense.
Marlene was a talented baker and cook and loved making delicious meals as one of her hobbies was trying new recipes. She enjoyed being in her kitchen, she would say "the kitchen is my sand box". Her vernacular was incredible, and she would always fill in the blanks when anyone was searching for a word, she was a true "Wordsmith".
Marlene was a teacher of kindness and spread happiness everywhere she went. She was like a walking Hallmark card and her thoughtfulness was appreciated by all those who she touched.
Marlene's trademark was sending "Happy Day Presents" just because. Her thoughtfulness in finding just the right Happy Day Present regularly brightened all our days. We will cherish that forever. Heaven truly has gained an amazing authentic Angel.
She is survived by her loving husband of 64 years, Gerald "Jerry" Yaros, of Metuchen; her son, Michael Yaros, of Perth Amboy; her daughter, Sherri Miller and her husband, Andrew, of Gaithersburg, MD; her son, Joseph Yaros and his wife, Sandra, of Monroe; her daughter, Susan Yaros and her fiancé, Darren Beede, of Flemington; her sister Anita Dell' Angela of Albuquerque, New Mexico, and her nieces Kim and Lori; her grandchildren, Jonathon, Jamie, Gina, and Michael; and her great grandchildren, Camryn and Emily.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 11, 2022 from 3:30pm to 8:00pm at Flynn and Son Funeral Home, 23 Ford Avenue, Fords, NJ. A funeral service will begin at 9:30am at the funeral home, followed by a 10:15am funeral liturgy at St. Francis Cathedral in Metuchen on Wednesday, October 12, 2022.
Interment will follow at Holy Trinity Cemetery in Hopelawn, NJ.
