Marlene Chonka, 68, of Edison, passed peacefully with her family at her side on Saturday, June 23, 2012 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Bruswick.

She was born in Pittston, PA, and has resided in Edison the last 45 years.

She was a graduate of the Wilkes-Barre Business College.

She was formerly employed as a secretary with St. Peter's University Hospital in New Brunswick for over 10 yrs.

Marlene enjoyed cooking, baking and being around family, especially spending time with her 4 beloved grandchildren,

She is survived by her husband of 45 years, Joseph Chonka, her son, Joseph Chonka and his wife Lynne, of Edison, her daughter, Michele Barasch and her husband Jon, of Matawan, her grandchildren, Ava and Mason Barasch and Drew and Katelyn Chonka, her 2 sisters, Joan Kowalski of Edison and Ann Marie Hodakowski of Pittston, PA, and her brother, Jerry Hodakowski of Omaha, Nebraska. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be on Wednesday June 27, 2012 at 9 a.m. from the Flynn and son / Koyen Funeral Home, 319 Amboy Ave. Metuchen, NJ 08840,
Followed by a 9:30 a.m. Funeral Liturgy at St. Matthew the Apostle R.C. Church in
Edison. Cremation will follow, privately.

Visiting hours will be on Tuesday, June 26, 2012 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. at the funeral home.
