Obituary

Mario Pitoscia, 85, of Edison, passed away at J.F.K. Medical Center on January 31, 2017.  Born in Toronto, Canada, he resided in Edison since 1958.  Prior to retirement, he was the Owner/President of Citrin-Pitoscia Co., Inc. in Bloomfield, Jo-Ann's Nut House in Menlo Park; and the Island Banana Co. in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

Mario was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the Altar Rosary Society, past President of St. Joe's High School Father's Club in Metuchen, past President of the NY Candy Club and was named to the N.C.A. Candy Hall of Fame in 1998.  He enjoyed traveling with his wife, spending time with his grandchildren, cooking family meals, especially his clam sauce on Christmas Eve.  He was a sports enthusiast with a fondness for hockey. He had a great sense of humor.

He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Concetta Pitoscia (nee Sissini), in 2010 and his sister, Mary D'Amelio (Donald).  He leaves behind his loving sons, Richard of Edison and Thomas (Peggy) of Murrell's Inlet, SC; his grandchildren: Christopher (Jennifer) and Danielle of Edison, Michelle of Murrells Inlet, SC; his sister, Nancy Pitoscia of Toronto, Ontario, Canada; and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Friday from 3:00-7:00 pm at the Flynn and Son Funeral Home, 23 Ford Avenue, Fords.  Funeral services take place on Saturday at 8:30 am at the funeral home followed by a 9:00 Funeral Liturgy at Our Lady of Peace RC Church, Fords.  Entombment will be in Good Shepherd Mausoleum in St. Gertrude Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Mario's memory may be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital and/or the American Cancer Society.
