Marie Prego, 84, of Menlo Park Terrace, passed away on May 26, 2024, at the JFK Medical Center, in Edison.

She  passed surrounded by loved ones.

She was born in Sicily, Italy on October 31, 1939.

Marie was a school aide who found her passion for working with children. From there, she put herself through night school to become a special education teacher.  She was a graduate of Rutgers University and retired after 30 years from the Newark school system.

She loved laughing and spending time with her family, always doing crazy things and getting herself into trouble.  She also enjoyed traveling and gardening. She was a communicant of Our Lady of Peace Church.

She was predeceased by her husband, Joseph B. Prego, in 1988, her daughter, Rossana,  in 2022, and brother, Raymond Nemezio, in 2008.

Marie is survived by a daughter, Joann Bellina, of Metuchen; sons-in-law, Frank Bellina and Dave Fedorcsak; 5 grandchildren: Franky, Michael, and Danielle Bellina and Dana and David; two great-grandchildren: Hudson and Harlow; and 3 step great-grandchildren, Rocco, Ava, and Angelina; two sisters: Patricia Forman, of Edison, and Celia Walsh, of Toms River; and many beloved nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be on Thursday, May 30, 2024, from 3-8 pm at the Flynn and Son Funeral Home, 23 Ford Ave., Fords, NJ 08863.

Funeral Services will begin Friday, 10 am, in the funeral home followed by a 10:30 am Funeral Liturgy at Our Lady of Peace Church, Fords.

Interment will be in St. Gertrude Cemetery, Colonia, NJ.
