Marian Freiberg Kaufman, 87, of Metuchen, N.J., passed away on Sunday, June 11. Born to William and Sarah Freiberg on February 22, 1936, Marian spent her childhood in the Bronx where she was a proud graduate of the Bronx High School of Science. She attended Hunter College and worked on Wall Street before meeting her husband Howard.  They married in 1958, lived in New Jersey and together grew the family business, Mercer Mobile Homes.

Marian shared outdoor adventures with Howard, as first mate of their sailboat Larlinbob.  She was an active member of the Raritan Yacht Club in Perth Amboy, New Jersey for over 60 years.  A city gal, Marian was passionate about New York and Madrid.  She loved traveling in the U.S. and abroad, attending the New York Metropolitan Opera and the Philharmonic,  and especially spending time with family.   Marian was a longtime member of Temple Neve Shalom in Metuchen, where she had served as President of the congregation's sisterhood.  Bridge at the local Jewish Community Center formed a central part of her social activities and friendships later in her life.

A force of nature with seemingly endless energy and remarkable intellect, Marian devoured books, competed fervently at Jeopardy, and was as passionate a New York Yankees fan as the Bronx Bombers have ever known. Marian was a good friend, a great mom and an adoring and loving wife.  She was loved by many and will be missed by all.

Marian is predeceased by her adoring husband Howard, and her brother Michael. She is survived by her children Linda and husband James, Larry and wife Hilda, Robert and wife Peggy, her grandchildren Jacob and wife Sarah, Jonas, Sarah, Will and Katharine, her great grandsons Aryeh Tzvi and Yehudah, and many loving cousins.

Services will be held on Tuesday, June 13, at 10:30am at Flynn and Son Funeral Home, 23 Ford Avenue, Fords, N.J. Burial to follow at Cedar Park and Beth El Cemeteries, 735 Forest Avenue, Paramus, N.J. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Jewish Community Center of Middlesex County.
