Maria del Pilar (Ledesma) Fortin, 87, of Edison, passed from this life to her heavenly home, on Saturday, October 14, 2023.

She was born in Puerto Rico, was formerly of Bronx, NY and had resided in Edison for the last 71 years.

She had been a medical assistant for over 15 years with Dr. Eli Cooperman on New Brunswick Ave in Fords, prior to that she had been a keypunch operator for the NY Stock Exchange in Manhattan.

She was a communicant of Our Lady of Peace RC Church in Fords for 71 years, and was the custodian for the church and school from1978 until 2010. She had taught CCD for 63 years for OLP Church and was a Eucharistic Minister at Our Lady of Peace Church for 41 years. She was a past president of Our Lady of Peace School PTA and a former member of the St. Thomas Aquinas High School PTA.

She was predeceased by her beloved husband Robert "Bob" Fortin who died in 2020.

She leaves behind her two beloved daughters, Lourdes Hnath and her husband Glenn of Jackson and Ana Maria Woodrow, of Princeton, and her beloved son, Dr. Robert Glenn Fortin of Edison, her 6 dear grandchildren, Christian Jensen and his wife Lisa, Gregory and his wife Lucy, Joshua, Catherine, Natalie and her husband Ryan, and Alexander, and her 4 great-grandchildren, Dylan, Nicholas, Eric, and Luna, her 6 siblings, Lourdes Rosario and her husband Mario, of Edison, Ismael Munoz and Rafael Ledesma of FL, and Charles, Peter and Jose Ledesma all of Puerto Rico and also surviving are many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 17, 2023 from 2 pm to 4 pm & 7 to 9 pm at the Flynn and Son Funeral Home, 23 Ford Ave. Fords, NJ 08863.

Funeral services will take place on Wednesday, October 18, 2023 at 9 am from the funeral home followed by a 9:30 am Funeral Liturgy at Our Lady of Peace RC Church in Fords.

Entombment will follow in Woodbridge Memorial Gardens Mausoleum, Woodbridge.
