Maria J Gianfrancesco, 77, of Perth Amboy, passed peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, at the JFK Medical Center in Edison.
She was born in Roccamandolfi, Italy on October 16, 1945, and immigrated to the United States in 1956 with her family, settling in Perth Amboy.
She was a graduate of Perth Amboy High School with the "Class of 1966".
She went on to become a beautician for many years. Maria retired as a cashier from Pathmark Supermarkets of Hopelawn, after over 30 years of employment.
She was a communicant of the Most Holy Rosary Church of the Good Shepherd Parish in Hopelawn. During her time there Maria was a cafeteria mom and an active member of the Most Holy Rosary School PTA, a CCD teacher, an usher, and a volunteer member of the office staff at the church. She was also a member of the Ladies Guild and Altar Rosary Society at the Church. One of her duties was to mail out copies of the Church Bulletins to the homebound members of the parish, writing and enclosing personal notes. This was one of the last things she did on the day she passed away, always being a constant professional. She was the recipient of the Regina Nostra Medal in 2006. She could also be found working the polls during elections in Perth Amboy.
Maria was predeceased by her beloved parents, Emilio and Giovanna Rizzi Gianfrancesco, her husband Santo Gianfrancesco, who died in 1987, and her dear brother Giovannino, who died in 1955.
She leaves behind her two beloved daughters, Liberata Concepcion (James), of Piscataway, Giovanina Gianfrancesco of Perth Amboy, her two cherished grandsons, James and Christian of Piscataway, her sister Antonietta Gianfrancesco of Perth Amboy and many nieces, nephews and cousins and her best friend, Carol Mik of Perth Amboy.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 2, 2023, from 4 pm to 8 pm at the Flynn and Son Funeral Home, 23 Ford Ave Fords NJ 08863. Funeral Services will begin on Thursday morning August 3, 2023, at 10 :30 am from the Flynn and Son Funeral Home, followed by a 11 am Funeral Liturgy at Most Holy Rosary Church of the Good Shepherd Parish in Hopelawn. Interment will follow in St. James Cemetery in Hopelawn.
