Margaretta K
Campbell
September 5, 1942 – July 16, 2022
Margaretta K. (nee: Martin) Campbell, 79, passed peacefully, on Saturday July 16, 2022, at RWJ University
Hospital in New Brunswick, NJ.
Born in County Cavan, Ireland, she immigrated to the US in 1960, settling in Bronx, NY. She was
formerly of Jersey City, NJ and has resided in the Fords section of Woodbridge since 1981.
Margaretta met the love of her life, Hugh Campbell, at the Jager House in Manhattan, NY. They married on
April 15, 1972. Margaretta devoted her life to her children, leaving her position as bookkeeper at Brooks
Brothers when her first child was born.
Margaretta represented and lived the true meaning of kindness, by welcoming all into her home with great
meals and conversation. She was a devoted Catholic, being a communicant of Our Lady of Peace Church, and not a day went by that she didn't say her rosary or pray for those in need. Margaretta loved all animals and enjoyed her daily visits to see deer and "bushy
tail" the fox, in Sandy Hook.
Everyone who knew Margaretta, were blessed by her smiles, her intense love for her family, and her love
for her new home in America. Although Margaretta had many blessings in her life, her most valued possessions were her grandchildren.
Oh, how she adored them all and spoiled them with lots of sweet treats, toys and plenty of unconditional
love.
She was predeceased by her parents, Patrick and Margaret (nee: McGovern) Martin, her 4 siblings, John Martin, James Martin, Thomas Martin and Ann Moore. She leaves behind, her beloved husband of 50 years, Hugh Campbell; her daughter, Barbara A. Campbell of Edison, NJ; her 2 sons, Martin Campbell and his wife Desiree of Middletown, NJ and Thomas Campbell of Fords; her 3 grandchildren, Kieran, Lyla and Fiona; her brother, Michael Martin; along with her four sisters, Rosemary McGovern, Eithne McNamee, Gertrude McCaffrey, and Maria Gunshinan, all of Ireland.
Margaretta never wanted to be the center of attention, so her services will be private for immediate family members
only. Friends wishing to honor Margaretta are invited to perform a random act of kindness. Family may send flowers.
