Margaret M
Tomasula
Nov 19, 1926 — Dec 19, 2020
Margaret M. Tomasula, 94, of Fords for over 60 years, passed away peacefully on Friday, December 19, 2020.
Born and raised in Hoboken to Cornelius and Katherine Murphy Kane, originally from Ballybunion, County Kerry, Ireland. Margaret spent most of her life in Fords and was a long-time parishioner of Our Lady of Peace RC Church. Working as an operator for Bell Telephone after high school, with occasional fashion modeling, Margaret married Andrew Tomasula in July, 1950 and went on to raise her family in Fords. After the death of her beloved husband in June, 1977, she began studies at Middlesex County College, and work as a comptometer operator for Revlon (Edison), and then as a secretary for Ingersoll-Rand and Dresser-Rand. Margaret is the loving mother of Peggy Martin and husband Gerald and Michael Tomasula and wife Maureen, and cherished grandmother of Michael Martin. Devoted sister of the late Michael Kane and his surviving wife Kathleen and the late Patrick Kane and late wife Emma and caring aunt and great aunt of several nieces and nephews.
Until the age of 91, she lived independently and enjoyed taking care of her home and garden, mowing the lawn herself, trimming bushes, and clearing snow, with occasional assistance from neighbors. She also enjoyed sewing, knitting, and crocheting, and taking care of her dog, Sam, and cat, Harriet.
We would like to offer our gratitude to the caregivers and associates of Brookdale Memory Care, Hamilton, NJ, where Margaret resided for the last few years and considered them her family for their care and love. We also thank the staff of Vitas Hospice who attended to Margaret during the past few months, and Ms. Gladys Harris, for her assistance, to Margaret and the family.
Family and friends may visit Wednesday, December 23 rd 11AM- 12PM at Flynn and Son Funeral Home, 23 Ford Avenue, Fords. A Funeral Service will commence at 12 PM at the funeral home, followed by interment at St. Gertrude's Cemetery in Colonia.
