Margaret Smith (nee Hubener), 85, of Whiting died October 22, 2010, in Edison.
Born March 13, 1925, in Union City, NJ, Margaret resided in Whiting since 2002. Prior to her move to Whiting, she resided in Fords since 1956. Margaret was a bank teller for Bank of America in Perth Amboy. She was a graduate of St. Michael's High School in Union City. Margaret was a communicant of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church in Whiting and a former communicant of Our Lady of Peace in Fords. She volunteered for Somebody Cares in Whiting.
Margaret was predeceased by her husband, Raymond Smith, in 1986; a daughter, Deborah Smith, in 1976; and her companion, John Cottone, in 2005. Surviving family members include her daughter, Maureen Carson and her husband William of Edison; sons Robert Smith and his wife Debbie of Needham, MA, and Gregory Smith and his wife Ann of Bonner Springs, KS; two step-sons: Michael Cottone and his wife Rita of Ridgefield, NJ, and John Cottone of Cumberland, RI; sister-in-law, Jane Smith of Avenel; and seven grandchildren: Shannon, Travis, Zachary, Matthew, Ian, Nathan, and Leah.
Funeral Service will be on Wednesday, October 27, 2010, at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church in Whiting. Interment will follow in St. Gertrude Cemetery in Colonia, NJ. Visitation will be on Tuesday, October 26, 2010, from 4-8 PM at FLYNN AND SON FUNERAL HOME, 23 Ford Avenue, Fords, NJ 08863. A second visitation will be on Wednesday, October 27, 2010, at the Manchester Memorial Funeral Home in Whiting from 9:30-10:30 AM with a Eulogy offered at 10:15 AM.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to The American Kidney Foundation or to Catholic Relief Services.
