Margaret "Maggie" Benson, 67, of Fords, passed away suddenly on Thursday, August 25, 2022, at JFK Hackensack Meridian Medical Center in Edison.

Born in Jersey City, NJ, she was formerly of Old Bridge, NJ and Spring Hill, FL, and had resided in the Fords section of Woodbridge Twp. for the last 18 years.

Margaret retired in January of 2020 from Leonard Logistics of Carteret, where she had been employed as a dispatch associate for over ten years. She was also a proud volunteer for Habitat for Humanity during her time in Florida. Known as "Mama Margaret" to many she worked with, she built long-lasting friendships with many of her co-workers and was always happy to lend an ear or some advice to anyone who needed it. She truly loved her job and those she worked with over the years.

The beach was Margaret's favorite place to be. She loved lounging in the sun and working on her tan. She was lucky enough to travel several times to her favorite beach spot in Bermuda… taking her most recent trip there just a few weeks ago. Margaret especially loved traveling by cruise and loved taking advantage of room service. Traveling was one of her favorite ways to stay close with loved ones that lived far away and she was blessed to be able to take so many wonderful trips over the years.

Margaret loved animals. Her cat Velvet was her baby and she loved her granddog Zoey. She had a big sweet tooth and some of her favorites were carrot cake, ice cream, cookies, and Uncle Jimmy's coffee cake. She could often be found with a book, magazine or enjoying a good movie and TV show.

Margaret's proudest achievements in her life were her three children Megan, Christopher, and Daniel. She was lucky enough to find a second chance at love with her wife, Sandy, whom she had known as a friend her whole life. Her loved ones describe her as caring, giving, and loving. Margaret loved the simplicity of spending time with those she loved and it is those quiet moments at home that will be greatly missed.

She leaves behind her beloved wife of six years, Sandy Murawski; her daughter, Megan Licht of Athens, TN, and two sons, Christopher and Daniel Licht of Spring Hill,FL; three brothers George Benson of New Jersey, Mark Benson of Ohio, and Greg Benson of Florida; as well as four beloved grandchildren and many cherished in-laws, nieces, and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents George & Margaret "Marge" Benson; and stepfather Vance Barton.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, August 28, 2022 from 3 pm to 6 pm, at the Flynn and Son Funeral Home, 23 Ford Ave. Fords, NJ 08863.

A funeral procession will leave from the The Flynn and Son Funeral Home on Monday August 29, 2022 at 9:30 am to the Aldersgate United Methodist Church located at 568 Ryders Lane East Brunswick, NJ 08816, for a funeral service beginning at 10:30 am at the church.

Cremation will follow privately.

In lieu of Flowers contributions may be made in her memory to Habitat for Humanity.
