Manuel A. Vega, 77, of Perth Amboy, passed peacefully at home into the arms of his Lord Jesus Christ on Thursday, September 10, 2020. Born in Utuado, Puerto Rico, on November 26, 1942, he was a resident of Perth Amboy for 47 years.

On December 2, 2018, Manuel celebrated 50 years working for Metal Textiles of Edison, NJ, in the knitting department where he was affectionately known as the master of the knitting machine.  He enjoyed what he did so much that he often said he never felt like it was work.  He loved talking and laughing with his co-workers.

He leaves behind his beloved wife of 57 years, Iris Vega, his daughter, Amarilis Vega, his daughter Magali Ruiz and her husband Nelson Ruiz, and his only son, Manny Vega Jr. and his wife Lucy Vidal.

Manuel was predeceased by his parents, Pedro Vega and Gladys Cortes, and his brother, Pedro Vega Cortes.  He is survived by his sister Emilia Vega Matos of Utuado, PR, his brother Edgar Vega of Dominican Republic, and his brother Gualberto Vega of San Juan, PR.  One of Manuel's favorite things to do was visit his siblings several times a year where they would enjoy many adventures throughout the island, but most importantly, they took pleasure in each other's company to all hours of the night.

He also leaves behind the absolute loves of his life, his grandchildren, Cassie, Raquel, Rebekah and Alex.  He was their constant playmate.  He allowed them to cheat in Candyland; he would pretend they had superpowers; he would swing and wrestle with them; he would teach them how to ride bikes and take them to parks; he played video games and with the Dora dollhouse and as they grew, he was their cheerleader and advisor and a pure fan of their events.  No grandfather loved and cherished their grandchildren more.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 16, 2020, from 6 pm to 9 pm at the Flynn and Son Funeral Home, 424 East Ave. Perth Amboy, NJ 08861.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, September 17, 2020, beginning at 9:30 am from the Funeral Home, followed by a 10 am Funeral Liturgy at Our Lady of Fatima RC Church in Perth Amboy.

Interment will follow in Alpine Cemetery, Perth Amboy, NJ.
