Obituary

Lydia (Ginzberg) Singer, 92, passed away on July 23, 2015 at the Regency Jewish Heritage Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Somerset, NJ. She was born and raised in Perth Amboy, where she lived until moving to South Amboy in 1998.
An active member of Congregation Shaarey Tefiloh in Perth Amboy, she also served as president of its Sisterhood. She was also an active member of several other service and philanthropic organizations in the Perth Amboy Jewish Community, including Mizrahi Women, Hadassah, and the Solomon Brody Auxiliary of the Perth Amboy Hebrew School. Professionally, she was employed as a medical secretary by the Obstetrical and Gynecological Group of Perth Amboy – Edison, P.A. (Drs. Jack Shangold, Armine Vafai and Sheldon Turkish). She played an active role in the lives of her family members, who enjoyed and appreciated all of her skills, efforts, and talents including cooking, baking, sewing, and knitting.
A daughter of the late Gussie and Morris Ginzberg, she was also predeceased by her husband, Martin Singer in 1980; her brother, Meyer Ginzberg; and her sister, Harriet Shangold.
She is survived by her daughter, Joanne Kaplan and her husband Dr. Murray Kaplan; her son, Dr. Jack Singer and his wife Deborah; two granddaughters, Meredith Singer and Renee Kenas and her husband David; her grandson, Jay Kaplan and his wife Jamie; her great-grandson, Charlie Kenas; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will take place at 2 PM, today, Friday, July 24, 2015 at Flynn and Son Funeral Home, 424 East Ave., Perth Amboy, followed by interment at the Hebrew Fraternity Cemetery in Hopelawn.
