Lucille (nee Macewicz) Kopcko, 98, of Menlo Park Terrace, died Sunday April 3, 2022, at Saint Peters University Hospital in New Brunswick.
Lucille was born and raised in Jersey City to the late, Michael Macewicz and Josephine Hahula. After graduating James J. Ferris High School in Jersey City, she worked for several years before marrying, briefly living in Kearny before calling Menlo Park Terrace her home in 1955. Lucille worked in sales at several clothing stores and then at Bamberger's (currently known as Macy's) in the Menlo Park Mall before her retirement in 1983. She was an avid reader, she found much joy in reading any book, newspaper, or doing a word search. She was a proud mother and grandmother.
Lucille was a very active parishioner at St. Cecilia's Church in Iselin, she would be more than happy to help out with Bingo or the annual church fair. She also belonged to the Woodbridge and Edison AARP. Baking and cooking were her passion, she could whip up any hearty meal that would stick to your ribs or deliver a home cooked meal to any of her neighbors in need. Lucille was an honest caring person that made the world a better place.
Lucille is predeceased by her loving husband of 39 years, Frank Kopcko, who died on January 4, 1987; and her brother, Joseph Macewicz. She is survived by her children, Bruce Kopcko and wife, JoAnn, Lois Castrovince and husband, Thomas, and Cindy Rost and husband, Brian; her six grandchildren, Matthew Castrovince, Leah Castrovince and Fiancé, Alex Wolfe, Alison Kopcko, Steven Kopcko and wife, Deirdre, Suzanne (nee Rost) Panagopoulos and husband, George, Danielle (nee Rost) Findley and husband, Rajiv; her great-grandchild, Peter Kopcko; along with many extended relatives and several close longtime friends.
A visitation will be held on Sunday, April 10, 2022, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the Flynn and Son Funeral Home, 23 Ford Avenue Fords, NJ 08863. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Cecilia's Church, 45 Wilus Way, Iselin, NJ 08830, on Monday, April 11, 2022, at 10 a.m. Family and friends are welcome to gather in the funeral home prior to Mass starting at 9 a.m. Mausoleum entombment will follow at St. Gertrude's Cemetery, Colonia.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Lucille's memory to a charity of your choice.
