Born and raised in Fords, NJ, he enlisted in U.S. Marines at age 17, the day after Pearl Harbor was bombed. After returning from WWII in the South Pacific, he began his career by using his mustering out pay to start the Fords Deli and Liquor Store. Lou realized that building was another avenue he wished to pursue and founded Wick Builders. He created numerous housing developments, including Applewood Manor, Rambling Hills, Sheffield Mews, Aspen Manor, etc. He then decided rental properties would be his next step. He assembled numerous properties and put together The Cyktor Building in Fords, Tano Mall in Edison, Wick Shopping Plaza and Wick Plaza in Edison, Wick Corporate Center in Woodbridge, Baywick Shopping Plaza in Bayville, Van Dyke Industrial Park in New Brunswick, along with many other projects. After 60 years as Founder and CEO of Wick Companies, Lou sold his companies. His last project was the development of Cyktor Plaza at Fords Corner in Fords, NJ, where he started many years before. He also resided in Colonia, NJ, and served as Chairman of the Woodbridge Planning Board and Past President of the Fords Lions Club. In Ft. Lauderdale, Lou was Chairman of the Broward Sheriff's Advisory Board Council.
