Lorraine E. Rizzolo (nee Caruso) of Colonia, passed away peacefully at home on December 7, 2011.
Lorraine was born and raised in Belleville and has resided in Colonia for the past 38 years.
She graduated from Belleville High School and was a communicant of St. Cecelia RC Church in Iselin. Lorraine retired 25 years ago from New Jersey Wholesale Drug Co. in Linden where she was employed as an order clerk typist for over 20 years.
Lorraine took pride in being a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, and great- grandmother. Her world was based on her love for her family, spending wonderful times with them throughout the years. She took a very active roll in the PTA during her childrens' school years. She was a former president of the JFK High School Mother's Football Organization and served as a volunteer at JFK Hospital in Edison. Lorraine was an excellent cook, hosting many delicious holiday dinners that were topped off by her famous homemade cheesecakes and pumpkin pies. She enjoyed playing bingo, her trips to Atlantic City, and spending summers with her family at the Jersey shore. Her family always looked forward to her birthday parties, which she made into an event for everyone else. She would spend time preparing all year long, purchasing gifts for the fun games she organized, along with providing great food, music, and entertainment. Her generosity and love for her family was always evident. Lorraine will be greatly missed by her family and leaves them with many cherished memories.
She is predeceased by her brother, Thomas Caruso. She leaves behind her beloved husband of 55 years, Louis R. Rizzolo. Lorraine was a loving mother to Louis T. Rizzolo and his wife Lisa of Colonia, Pamela Rincavage and her husband George of Simpsonville, SC, and Michael Rizzolo and his wife Debbie of Fords; a loving grandmother (Nana) to Louis M. Rizzolo (Katrina), Stephanie, Jessica, Michael, and Danny Rizzolo, and Jeff and Jillian Rincavage; a cherished G G Nana to Bryleigh and Louis M. Rizzolo, II. She also leaves behind her devoted sister, Florence Bracaglia and her husband Lou of Little Egg Harbor.
Funeral Services will be on Saturday, December 10, 2011, at 10:30 a.m. from the Flynn and Son Funeral Home, 23 Ford Avenue, Fords, NJ 08863 followed by an 11:15 a.m. Funeral Liturgy at St. Cecelia Church in Iselin. Entombment will follow in St. Gertrude Garden Mausoleum in Colonia. Visitation will be on Friday, December 9, 2011, from 2:00-4:00 and 7:00-9:00 pm.
